MMAP August 2011- Oregon Christian Convention inTurner, OR

Note: Most people pictures are of us because this blog is mostly for our family.  Others on project with us contributed much but we want to limit our pictures . . . . somewhat .

It’s a very old tabernacle built in 1891 and in need of a fresh coat of paint  . . . so that was the job of the four guys working this month.  A lift was brought in and the building first power washed, repairs done and then the painting including the steps and railings into the building.

Walt on the Move

The good happening is that Jim’s father (Walt) moved to a retirement home in Sublimity, OR end of January with the help of Jim’s sister Jenni and brother John. The kind of sad happening was that we decided to cancel our February work project in Arizona and return to Oregon to help with selling or clearing out the remaining belongings and vehicles at the farm as well as to decide on selling the property. We have not regretted being here however as there has been much to do plus it has been good to visit Walt often.

MMAP work project at US Center for World Missions in Pasadena, CA

Our guys tore out an old fence, built a couple new ones (one with a dumpster place) plus replaced some ceiling tiles . . . .

The ladies peeled apples for a special dinner at the cafeteria plus helped out in a two offices, took down some Christmas décor, worked in the boutique, etc.
We all enjoyed breakfast at Santa Anita Racetrack followed by a “behind the scenes” tour.
Another extra trip was to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley . . . an excellent place to visit. Here we are with MMAPer friends before touring Air Force One.
Don & Mona, Rich & Angie, Mo & Jo, and us @ our “Appreciation Dinner”.
